About Terry & Stephenson

Terry & Co. was established in 1979 by Alan Terry in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1986.

Terry & Stephenson is a member of the Private Companies Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the national professional organization for Certified Public Accountants.

In 2000, Terry & Stephenson acquired Bob Pearson Enterprises, which offers comprehensive parts department consulting and financial consulting for automobile dealerships.

In 2001, we joined Integra International, a global network of accounting and financial consulting firms dedicated to exchanging information and advising growing businesses.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants peer review program is dedicated to enhancing the quality of accounting, auditing and attestation services performed by AICPA members in public practice. Our 2006 Peer Review is now available.

Alan Terry

Alan Terry, C.P.A., is a 1970 graduate of the University of Southern Colorado with a B.S. in accounting. In 1976 he received his M.B.A. from Indiana University with an emphasis in Finance. Prior to founding Terry & Stephenson, Alan worked for Price Waterhouse in Baltimore, Maryland, for two years; Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, for three years; and Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for three years.

Joni Johnson-Powe

Joni Johnson-Powe, J.D., C.P.A., graduated in 1993 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. In 1996, she received her Juris Doctorate in Law with an emphasis in taxation from the University of Colorado Law School. Prior to Joining Terry and Stephenson, Ms. Johnson-Powe founded J.P. Powe & Associates, LLC, a full service accounting firm. Joni also served as Manager in KPMG’s State and Local Tax Practice for 5 years and 2 years with Ernst and Young.

Joni’s area of experience include federal and multi-state issues, state income tax consulting and compliance, sales and use, payroll and property tax compliance. She also has a specialized skill set in the telecommunications tax and transaction tax software implementation arena including Vertex and Sabrix software. She is currently serving a three year term on the IRS Advisory Council (IRSAC) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, Colorado Bar Association Tax & Trust/Estates Section, South Metro Chamber-Economic Development Group and Sam Cary Bar Association.
